"Jesus told them: To me is given all authority in the sky and on the earth," Matthew 28:18.
Who gave that to Jesus? God. God did. When did God give it to him? When God made him Lord. So when was that? When God resurrected him from the dead and declared him Son of God, the Lord, in power, in keeping with holiness' Spirit. Yeah. When God seated Jesus at his own right hand in the skies far above all rule and authority and power and dominion. When God gave Jesus the name above every name before whose name every knee in the sky and on earth would bow. But God did this after. After. After Jesus humbled himself to death on a cross. Authority didn't come cheap.
We meet with a brother or sister today to bow at the name of Jesus, our Lord. And, together, we marvel thankfully that we get to share in Jesus' glory for we share in his suffering.
