"Every animal in the forest is mine, cattle on a thousand hills are mine; I know every bird on the mountains, every living thing in the fields," Psalm 50:10.
Dear God: If you were hungry you would have no need of our food. The whole world, the entire universe (!) belongs to you. You, O Lord God, Jehovah, are the Mighty One. You call out to the earth. You shine from your beautiful city. You come in devastating power to judge your people. You call every faithful person who made an agreement with you. The skies shout out your right way of being. You are our God. We will not presume to think our offerings of food, clothing, shelter, money, whatever, somehow give what you need. No. We offer to you our thanksgivings, we offer to you our spoken need, we offer to you our pleas for help. You, O God, will deliver us in your awesome power.
When we visit with a brother or sister today, we confess our weakness and need. And, together, we offer thanks to God for having presented Jesus to us, our Savior.
