"The people God chose for his very own are happy," Psalm 33:12.
Here's the story: From his throne in the sky, God looks down and sees all peoples everywhere. God had formed their hearts so he pays careful attention to what they choose to believe. The people who trust him, who believe him, who fear him, these are those whose souls God delivers from death. They do not hope in the armed might of man. They know instruments of war cannot rescue. They know such worldly powers offer only false hope. God's people trust his steadfast love to keep them alive during famine. O Jehovah God! Our souls wait for you! You are our help and shield. Our hearts are glad in you. We trust in your holy name.
With a brother or sister today, joyfully, we affirm God's love. And, together, we give thanks that he chose to call his own people good enough by such faith.
