"We must explain to him the way we have lived," Hebrews 4:13.
Nothing (it says) in all creation hides from his eyes. (Whose eyes? God's.) In fact, every single person is naked to him. (Yipes! that's kind of embarrassing! Yes. But not because God sees us without underwear - that's just normal, like, duh! But because he peers into our very souls!) Every single person lies exposed to his examining eyes. God discerns the very thoughts. God distinguishes between conflicting motives. God dissects spirit from soul. How does he do that? By his Word. Yeah. It's a living Word. It's action-packed. God's Word's got razor-sharp cutting edges. When we give our life's accounting to him, he knows the truth of it. And that's why we've got to have our high priest, Jesus, take the examination for us.
Dear God: We, brothers and sisters, seek your help today prepping to obey you. And, together, we give thanks for your living, active, sharp, piercing, discerning Word that cleanses us, inside out, truly, in its washing waters.
