Uncommon

"No one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him," Matthew 11:27.

Well, now. That's pretty exclusive, isn't it? Nobody except Jesus knows God? And just the people Jesus chooses to let in on it? Yep. Nobody else. So, what do you have to do to have Jesus choose you to let you in on it, too? What extraordinary feats of spiritual prowess, of mountainous faith, of supernatural self-control, of uncommon goodness do you have to achieve to get to know God? Well. Here's Jesus' bar that must be met: Come to me. (That's it - come to Jesus.) Who should come to Jesus? This is who: All you who struggle and are burdened down with troubles. Yes, you (us). Jesus said: Learn from me. Jesus said: I am gentle, I have a humble heart, I will give you rest. Jesus said: my yoke's easy.

As we meet today with fellow strugglers, brothers and sisters, we recognize Jesus in the very way we receive each other, just like he received us. And, together, we bow in thanksgiving to God, whom Jesus revealed.
