"There is no authority except from God," Romans 13:1.
So that's why we obey the government. What?! Whoa! Wait a minute! What if it's an evil government, like, say, like, oh, I don't know, like, well, like the tyrant king, George III? Or an accursed liberal? Or, heaven forbid, a retrograde conservative? Yeah, what about then? The Good Book goes on: Whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed. (The Book provides a healthy balance in cases of godly civil disobedience: Obey God rather than men. But that's for another time. Meanwhile) That's why we pay taxes, pay our debts, yield respect, give honor. But, mainly, we love each other. The main thing: Love does no wrong. The mainest thing: Love fulfills the law. Sky kingdom.
Today we meet a brother or sister unafraid to honor all in the love of Christ. And, together, we give thanks to God for providing some justice even in this old broken world.
