Do-gooding

"Defeat evil," Romans 12:21.

Good! Yep. That's what the Good Book says to Jesus' followers. Overcome evil! OK. So. How to do this? Here's how: Do good. (Hmm. Do good? that's it? but evil's really bad nowadays. doing good's enough?) What kind of do-gooding defeats evil? Here's what it says: Wish good for those who do bad things to us. We don't pay them back by doing wrong to them. We do our best to live in peace with everyone. If our enemy is hungry, we feed him. Thirsty? give him water. Yep. Do good. We let God sort out getting even. God will sort it out to the last gnashing of teeth. So. We don't let evil defeat us, but we defeat it by doing good. Sky kingdom.

We meet with a brother or sister today encouraging one another to do good, just like Jesus did when he lived among us, in a perverse and faithless generation. And, together, we give thanks that God's very good nature triumphs over evil into eternity.
