Least

"Whoever gives a drink, a cup of cool water, to one of these little ones just because they are followers, will not lose his reward," Matthew 10:42.

Who won't lose the reward? Whoever. Whoever gives a drink to the least follower. Follower? Follower of whom? Follower of Jesus. (God pays close attention to life details.) Yes. Whoever receives a good person because they're good, will receive a good person's reward. Whoever receives a prophet because they're a prophet, will receive a prophet's reward. Jesus insists on these truths. Yes. He had said: Whoever receives Jesus' missionaries, receives Jesus, and whoever receives Jesus receives who sent him. God. (What reward? Read that last line again.)

As we offer hospitality to a brother or sister today we participate in Christ's mission. And, together, we praise God's grace for his over-the-top generous rewards.
