"You have died to the law through Christ's body, to belong to another: to the one raised from the dead," Romans 7:4.
This is fundamental gospel instruction: God's very good law only sharpened awareness of and awoke in us sin's deepest reaches to bear its fruit - death. That was then. But now we belong to Christ in whose resurrection we now bear living fruit for God. We no longer belong to law's slavery. Yes, we died to the captivity of the law's written code. Oh yes! We belong to the living Christ. And now we serve in the Spirit's new life. We now obey Jesus, prophet of God, teaching us his word of life!
We visit with a brother or sister today knowing we belong to the Risen Christ. And, together, we live out thankful, Spirit-empowered lives bearing fruit through Christ for our God.
