"This is the one who hears the word and understands it," Matthew 13:23.
So. Who's this one guy (or gal)? Who's this hearing and understanding person? It's the one who hears the word of the kingdom and gets it! Yeah. But how do we know they got it? Well, they're like seed planted in good earth. Yes. They produce lots of fruit by hanging in there no matter what. They set their minds carefully to the teaching so that it does not slip away from them. They root their minds deeply into the teaching rather than relying in flashing feelings of joy or of sorrow. They pursue the word tenaciously rather than caring about the choking paths of wealth. Yep. That's how. They hold on tight to the word of the kingdom of the skies. At any rate, that's Jesus' good message about the kingdom.
As we see a brother or sister today, we remind each other of the good word. And, together, we root thanksgivings for God in his word of grace that even we may understand.
