"No one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father," John 6:65.
Who's talking here? Jesus. So. We're going to assume that to come to Jesus means to get eternal life through Jesus' sacrifice. Now, all sorts of people claim that God decides ahead of time who gets saved and who doesn't. And that's true, obviously. But what has God predetermined in his wisdom? Careful, now: God's wisdom predetermines that they must believe in Jesus as Christ, the Lord. Or not. (Their choice.) God grants access to any believer in Christ. People who believe come to him. People who don't, don't. God does not predetermine whether they would believe. God predetermines faith in Jesus as the necessity for access to Jesus. As the door to life. As to who gets saved. But we get to choose whether to enter. Or not.
Entering with a brother or sister today, we renew faith in Jesus as the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world. And, together, we give profuse thanks to God's wisdom in granting confident access to Jesus.
