"Bring me out of prison," Psalm 142:7.
Ever feel that you're in a prison? In a deep cave with the way out blocked? Or, maybe, actually in prison, locked down? Sure we have. Moments in the events of this broken world when our spirits faint within us. When there's only a trap in any direction. When no one notices. When no refuge remains. When it seems no one cares. When we feel brought down to the lowest. That's the way Jesus felt it, too, on the cross. So what to do when there's no way? Commit our spirits into God's hands. Call out to God. Cry for mercy to the Lord. Pour out the complaint into his presence. Tell him the trouble. Why? Why bother with this? because God knows the way out. That's why. because God is our living heritage. because he is the Deliverer. because he provides escape. because he surrounds with the caring. because he responds to the call with overflowing mercy. Sky kingdom.
We join with a brother or sister today entrusting our very selves to God, the One able and willing to deliver from the cave. And, together, we give thanks for Jesus' hope when there was no life.
