"The rich are always trying to control your lives," James 2:6.
Clearly, James, you got it wrong. And here you were trying to teach us something about God choosing the poor as heirs of the kingdom! You're wrong, James. The rich don't oppress anybody. They don't take anybody to court. The rich (who, for example, run Hollywood) never teach us many ways to insult Jesus's name. (By whose holy name are we called.) They don't get lots of money from us to watch their shows. Or to subsidize their political campaigns for more power. Barking up the wrong tree, James.
Today we meet, humbled, with a brother or sister in the hope of God's promises. And, together, rich or poor, thankful, we hold fast in trust of Jesus's honorable name.
