Deeds

"I will never forget their deeds," Amos 8:7.

Who won't forget? The Lord, Jehovah, won't. At times it feels like life never gives a fair shake. But consider: What deeds will God not forget? He will not forget privileged people who oppressed the humble. And what made the privileged, privileged? These could not wait until holidays were over in order to lord it over the others again. These swindled the others with unfair balances. These saw humble people as cheap commodities, rungs on a ladder, to step on toward materialistic valuables. These privileged ones returned their leftovers instead of food for others. We need not despair. God's justice will be vindicated, in spades.

When we meet with a brother or sister today, we encourage each other to bank on God's promises. And, together, we give thanks to Jesus who gave up unimaginable privilege to humble himself with us.
