Ahead

"Be happy that you are sharing in Christ's sufferings," 1 Peter 4:13.

Followers of Jesus give up what messed them up beforehand - possessions, position, even dear relationships. When they do this to obey Jesus, well, this can be very hard. Obviously! To do so, though, brings a share in Jesus' sufferings. We do so while changing our view, away from present death, upward, to a bright shining glory sharing in Jesus' coming life. Obedience to Christ brings temporary insults and other trials. But then it yields a glory in the sky that just throws the scale entirely off the balances. Worth it. So. Whoever suffers by continuing to do right: these entrust their very lives to God. Who else has the words of glorious life? Sky kingdom.

We visit joyfully with a brother or sister today so as to share in each other's life in Christ. And, together, thankful to God, we look ahead to a stunning glory that comes very soon.
