"Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets he interpreted in all the Scriptures the things about himself," Luke 24:27.
That's what Jesus, recently made alive, did while the three of them walked along the road to Emmaus. Now, in Jesus' day the Bible (the Hebrew Scriptures, right?) organized into three great sections: the Torah (Moses' Law/Instruction), the Prophets (starting with Joshua), and the Writings (the rest of the Scriptures starting with Psalms). It's still divided like that in Jewish circles. Anyway. In some modern Bibles there's a habit to render Jesus' words in red print with everything else in customary black print. But Jesus' interpretation illustrates that, if we like red, the whole Bible should be red print. First, it's all God's word, not merely favorite portions. And, second, it all points to Christ.
We listen with a brother or sister today and hear of God's phenomenal work to redeem humans in Jesus. And, together, thankfully, we follow Jesus home.
