Stanchions

"I will make the winner a tower of strength in the temple of my God," Revelation 3:12.

Jesus will do this. He makes his winners pillars upholding God's temple. He makes them buttresses. Stanchions. Champions. In God's temple. Temple? Yes. The temple where God dwells: his people. He dwells among them. The Risen Christ makes them a temple. Indeed. He, Jesus, writes God's name on those pillars, he writes the name of God's city, the new Jerusalem, on these uprights. They endured troubles of the world with patience. They held fast in hardship. No one could snatch their crown away from them - for they kept Jesus' word. They did not deny his name when pressed to do so! So the King of kings writes his own new name on them. Sky kingdom.

Today, we recognize in a brother or sister, however humble they be, a champion in God's temple. We remember Jesus' protection. And, together, we give thanks to God.
