Rage

"Do it with gentleness and respect," 1 Peter 3:16.

Do what? do what with gentleness and respect? Do this: explain the hope we have in Christ. explain why we honor Christ as holy. OK. But why wouldn't we do that? because, if they've abused us, we don't want them to find God's grace, too. because, maybe, we'd rather they suffer God's vengeance in his coming rage against all ungodliness. because we really want them to get theirs. Maybe. I mean. God's grace is real and his vengeance is equally real. And God's calling us to share in his character of grace, but not in his character of vengeance which belongs to him alone. He's pretty clear about that.

We meet with a brother or sister in the kindness of our God and Savior. And together we give thanks that someone explained Jesus to us with gentleness and respect.

Honoring

"Those who insult your good way of life in Christ may be humiliated," 1 Peter 3:16. Yes. And when do these disparagers get shamed?...
