"No one takes this honor for himself," Hebrews 5:4.
What honor? The honor of high priest. God gives that honor to whom he chooses for whatever reason he chooses. And God chose Jesus. God appointed Christ. God called Christ his son. God made Christ priest forever. And for this honor, Jesus learned obedience. Jesus learned obedience meant suffering. God made Jesus get perfected through suffering. Jesus, perfected, became the source of salvation for all who obey him. God designated Jesus high priest.
Visiting with a brother or sister today, we offer our obedience to Christ. And together, we give thanks that God made Jesus the source of our salvation.
