No. Jesus didn't. All sorts of testimonies sprang up against him at his first trial. But no two agreed. You can't condemn somebody on unsubstantiated charges. The best somebody came up with: He said he'd destroy the handmade temple and he himself would build a not handbuilt one. Still, no accord. That's when the high priest challenged with the question above. (Well, what do you say to lying testimonies? Nothing.) Exasperated, the priest then asked: Are you the Christ, Son of the Blessed One? Jesus said: Yes. Yeah. And that's why we killed him.
We meet a brother or sister today confessing Jesus as the Christ of God. And together we praise God that Jesus made the good confession here, there, and elsewhere for our salvation.
