"Follow me," Mark 2:14.
That's Jesus' call. In a real sense, it's Jesus' call to everyone and anyone. But more to his point, it's his call to sinners. His call to (spiritually) unhealthy people. To unrighteous people. Healthy people don't need doctors. Jesus did not come out to call (spiritually) healthy people. He, rather, remains quite clear about his call: I did not come to call good people, instead, to call sinner people. Yeah. That's why he wastes so much time at meals with unworthies. When he calls these to follow, these get up and follow. These don't despise his call at all.
We meet with a brother or sister today and remember who we were when Jesus first called us. And, grateful together, we praise God for transforming us ever to become more into the image of Christ.
