Rarely

"Someone might die for a good man," Romans 5:7.

Yeah, but rarely. Once in a good while somebody might willingly step in the line of fire for someone they love or esteem. But to die, on purpose, for a wimp? For an ungodly person? No way! A person wouldn't willingly die for despicable people. And, certainly, nobody would die for their enemies! No, and all the more especially not when dying meant being tortured mercilessly. No. But then, there's Jesus. Yes. Who died for us. For us, powerless wimps. For us, ungodly. For us, despicable sinners. For us, his enemies. Yes, God made us friends in Jesus' blood. Yes, God made us worthy. Yes, highest display of God's love.

We rejoice with a brother or sister today in honor of Jesus who turned us losers into men and women worthy of God. And, together, we praise the God of the ages who loves unimaginably.
