Conversation

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge," Proverbs 1:7.

Fear: deep respect. Awed recognition of power. Acknowledgement of absolute ownership. Do we want wisdom? Wisdom's foundation rests on God's sovereignty. Wisdom starts with Creator. Not with creation. Not with the creature. Fear of the Lord means a creature need have no fear of any other creature. Fear of the Lord means a creature can engage conversation with the Lord of the universe. With the Lord of life. Fear of the Lord means a creature can have a will of one's own. Fear of the Lord means a creature can question God. Fear of the Lord means a creature can desire a different course of action than the Lord's. Fear of the Lord means a creature willingly yields personal will to God's will. Says who? Job. Moses. Elijah. Jesus.

When we visit with a brother or sister today we start the conversation in God's presence. And, together, we give thanks for Jesus, God's wisdom and power.
