"They offer to demons and not to God," 1 Corinthians 10:20.
When we bless the blessing cup and break bread together, we participate in the blood of Christ, we participate in the body of Christ. There are a lot of us, yet in these sharings we remain one, together, in one body. Singular sacrifice of Christ. And we have no illusion that faith in whatever, in anything at all, just as long as you have faith in something, is acceptable to God. No. Not at all. Idolatry, sexual immorality, grumbling have no place in Christ. God receives one sacrifice - Christ. All other sacrifices, however heartfelt they may be, are sacrifices to demons, not to God. These result in snake bites, in the Destroyer's devastation. There is one acceptable sacrifice to God. One. And it's Jesus, crucified. Whom God resurrected to life. Forever. Sky kingdom.
We meet today, brother or sister, and we pause in awe of the unique work of the Lord Jesus. And, together, we give thanks to the one and only God, imperishable, in whom alone dwells immortality, blessed forever.
