"Blessed are the poor in spirit, because the kingdom of heaven is theirs," Matthew 5:3.
Repent! Says Jesus. Change! Turn around! So. What does repentance look like? It looks like pride and arrogance and privilege and power of the world giving way to humility and shame and displacement and weakness. Looks like someone who finds God's grace sufficient for them. Who finds in their weakness agency for God's power, Creator of worlds. Indeed, who finds their greatest strength in their weakness.
We visit with a brother or sister today in our poverty to find the blessing of God's kingdom. And together we give thanks that Jesus became poor to make us heirs of his kingdom's glorious wealth.
