"Peter took Jesus aside and started to scold him," Mark 8:32.
When did you last scold Jesus for something he said? It's kind of weird to think about, isn't it? Sometimes we think how grand it would be to have been there at the time with Jesus and to see all the wonders he did and to have all that convincing proof of him being the Christ of God right in front of our eyes and we'd never have any doubt about it! But we know. We know. Deep in our own souls, we know. We'd do just like they did. We'd still want Jesus to do what we want him to do rather than what the Father wanted. But he was always about his Father's will. Not ours. Not Satan's.
We get together with a brother or sister today thankful that Jesus always turned his will over to God. And, chastened together, we praise God that his will prevailed over ours.
