"So that they may see but not perceive," Mark 4:12.
This is so bizarre. (?). That's why Jesus spoke in parables. Jesus made distinction between his closest followers, the twelve apostles, and outsiders. He gave the secret meaning of God's kingdom only to them. But outsiders only got the parables. Why? Because if the outsiders got it, they might turn and be forgiven. So said Jesus. Yeah. So. After the cross, they fully got it. And after being empowered by the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, they proclaimed it to the rest of us. And now we, too, can get it.
We meet with a brother or sister today having heard of forgiveness through the cross of Christ. And, together, having turned, we praise him for forgiving all our sins.
