"We are not ignorant of his designs," 2 Corinthians 2:11.
We who? We, those people sent out by Jesus to preach the gospel. And we, including people who have come to faith in Jesus. So. We are not ignorant of whose designs? Satan's. Satan has plans? Oh, yes. What are these plans? Well, we know them: To outwit us. To gain advantage over us. How does Satan think to overreach us? First, by overwhelming us with guilt and excessive sorrow. Second, by our failing to comfort and forgive repentant sinners. In short, to deny from us God's Yes! in Christ. So how do we not get outwitted by the evil one? Like this, in obedience to the Lord, to forgive as he forgave us. Sky kingdom.
We meet today with a brother or sister reminding each other of God's covenant of forgiveness. And, together, we extend joyful comfort in praises for our God's promises.
