"Give thanks to Jehovah God, for his steadfast love endures forever," 2 Chronicles 20:21.
Sounds like the main praise song on a Sunday morning in an urban mega-church, doesn't it? Maybe even a minor refrain in a little country church perched precariously on windy plains? Well, it's neither of those, nor anything between. So what is it? Ok. Here's the setting. A massive coalition army advanced against Jerusalem (about the 7th century before Jesus). The king and everybody was scared to death. But they sent their army against the coalition force. And you know who led the army? Out in front? You'd think it was the best soldiers. But, No. It was a large contingent of singers. Yeah, singers. Dressed out in their singer regalia. Singers from the Jerusalem temple. And they led the army singing. Singing? Yes. Singing: Give thanks to the Lord.
We remind a brother or sister today that the steadfast love of the Lord endures forever. Even when facing horrendous foes. And, together, we give thanks to the Lord believing his steadfast love endures forever. Indeed.
