"Our citizenship is in the skies," Philippians 3:20.
The Bible remains steady to insist that Jesus' people look up. The upward call of God in Christ draws eyes high up. Mature men and women look up. Some set their eyes on stuff of earth: the right leader is in, the wrong leader is in, the wrong leader is out, the right leader is out. And so on. Jesus' people look up into the sky. From the sky we await a savior. Who's that? It's the Lord. What Lord? (there's a bunch of them, after all!) The Lord Jesus Christ. He brings transformation. Sky kingdom.
As we visit with a brother or sister today, we note life's one certainty: no one gets out of it alive. But we look ahead in hope! And, together, we give thanks that we belong to the sky and not to the world.
