"By what authority are you doing these things?" Mark 11:28.

Who's asking? Chief priests (and others). Jesus answers with a question about baptism. (Baptism? how weird is that?!) Yeah. Was John's baptism from heaven or from men? Baptizing John was a prophet-priest from the tribe of Levi. He had baptized Jesus, who, coming up out of the water, received the Holy Spirit as a Voice from heaven (!) declared: This is my beloved Son who makes Me very happy. A voice. From. Heaven. The priests' deliberated, political answer: They don't know. So. Jesus won't answer their question either. But he did. They just didn't want to get it.

We meet up with a brother or sister today to recognize Jesus' authority to change the order of things and to forgive whomever. And together thankful, we praise God who loves his Son so. And loves us as well.
